AD replication problem - Global Catalog not available

Jack

Hi,

I have a AD domain with two win2k DCs where DC2 served as redundancy and
load balancing purposes. DC1 is a Global catalog (GC) and installed with
AD-integrated DNS while DC2's DNS was installed at a later time. I found
DC2's DNS service has error of "Cannot contact DNS server" and do not
know what to do with it.

However, I could see all my domain user and computer accounts
"replicated" over to DC2. When I try to create a domain user account, I
received the following error:

"Windows cannot validate the uniqueness of the proposed user name with
global catalog server because:

The server is not operational. Windows will create this user account,
but the user can log on only after the user name is verified to be
unique. For further assistance, contact your system administrator"

I do not understand what is wrong, though I have ensure DC1 to be GC and
DC2's DNS ip address in NIC is pointing to DC1.

Any advise would be much appreciated.
