AD recovery

After our PDC failed we moved ad, dns/dchp to a temporary
server. Our new server has arrived and I cant run AD
instalation wizard. I get a message saying the wizard
cannot gain access to the list of domains in the forest.
The specified domain does not exist or cannot be
contacted. I urgently need to get ad running on new server
as temporary one cannot cope with workload. Any ideas?

Is the new server pointing to the DNS server for your domain?

Hi Sam-

Double check your network connection config on the server you're about to
promote to ensure DNS entries. Also check your DNS to verify you have SRV
records for your DCs in the Forest. Finally is your Domain Naming Master and
Schema Master FSMO roles on an active DC and do you have an active GC?

Are you trying to promote a domain in an existing forest. if so, make sure
DNS Settings are correct to resolve the existing forest domain.
