AD printers and IIS printers page

S

Sniper

Please forgive if the is a repeat.

Windows 2000 AD
users are domain users
they can follow the add printer wizard and install printers with no problem.
Here is my problem.... from \\server\printers they can see the printers,
view settings, but when they attempt to install(connect) printers from there
the installation fails with "not enough privilege on machine". Have I missed
a GPO setting, or something. I have looked high and low for a solution but
to no avail.

Sniper,

Not sure why the 'IIS printers page' is included in your Subject heading....

I am further confused by your first statement: they can follow the add
printer wizard and install printers with no problems. Then, you say 'here
is my problem'....

Typically, the domain user account object needs to be a member of the local
computer's 'Power Users' group to be able to install printers.

Can you please clarify how the users are able to install printers with no
problems ( list the steps that you/they are taking to do this
successfully )?

For the 'Here is my problem' part - can you please list the steps that
you/they are taking?

My assumption is that you are able to manually add printers but are having
problems when trying to do so using GPO. This, however, does not make too
much sense.

HTH,

Cary
