AD DNS record not updated

some of the Windows XP sp2 workstations have renew the DHCP ip addresses.
when i do a "ping" to the host name, it reply 'Request time out'. i did a
ipconfig /registerdns & ipconfig /flushdns on the workstation and waiting
for an hour and try to ping again. Same result! The DNS record did not
updated.
how long do i need to wait for it to update the record? Could it be any
problem?

Hi

Are the clients DNS pointing to their local Dns Server?
If no point the clients only to their local DNS.

Are you ping by FQDN or by NetBios name?
If NetBios name..
Are the clients on the same subnet?
If no check Wins configuration, make sure that the clients have on their NIC
properties the local Wins server, and the replication betweem Wins is
working.

Can you ping the client by IPAddress?
If no check firewall configurations (Allow Incoming Echo requests) on
advanced tab -> ICMP.

Can you ping

I hop that helps
