AD DC IP CHANGE

X

Xavier Catillon

Hi all,

I have two main domain controllers (main site + first installed) for which I
have to change the IP address. Our main site is connected to other with
controllers.

Does anybody knows the best way to do it.

Thanks for your replies.

Xavier.

Nothing special - all computers looks for DC in DNS.
If your domain DNS zone integrated in AD all will be changed automatically.

ipconfig /registerdns
nltest /dsregdns

Makes it go faster.

Xavier,

No problems at all. Just make sure that you have changed the Subnet value
in Active Directory Sites and Services and that you run - as Chris
suggested - net stop netlogon
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
net start netlogon
on all of the Domain Controllers. I would also make sure that you change
DHCP. There are going to be new IP Addresses. I would also make sure that
DNS is cool. It should be but you will need to check.

I would also reboot all of the workstations. You could also use psshutdown
from http://www.sysinternals.com to actually shut down all of the systems so
that the user base will have to turn the systems back on. Or have the users
reboot when the come in.
