Ad-Aware 2007 / SSL download failed

I've downloaded the new Ad-Aware 2007.
I've used once, smart scan, no threats found.
I've clicked on the update link and I'm getting an error:
Event SSL DOWNLOAD FAILED
Suggested Action: RUN WEBUPDATE
How can fix that?
Can I try to d/l the new defs and manually drag them in the proper folder?
If yes, how can I do that exactly?
Thank you.

i would wait because i got same error
You and the whole world must be trying it so their servers must be
overloaded.
Wait a few days and try it again

Hi Robin.
It works perfectly on my PC.
On my laptop, the Web Update interface is broken.
I've tried to uninstall (from control panel and from the provided feature),
but that failed too.
I've noticed a couple of .dll files are missing in my laptop's folder,
comparing to the PC's: do you think I can just copy them on a USB key and
insert them where they are missing?
Cheers,
Steffo

Just for your info, I fixed it.
It was simpler than I thought, nothing to do with the program itself.
In Norton Internet Security, find the advanced tab in the options.
Unblock the access to secure sites.
I found that tip in the Lavasoft Beta Community Forum c/o Pokefan.
Cheers,
Steffo

Ok...I downloaded the software today. I am getting the "SSL Download Failed"
error. My firewall has been disabled completely. I've uninstalled and
re-installed the software. I've rebooted the latop. Still can't use the
update button due to error. Anyone have any ideas.

when you reinstall the software try picking it up from another site instead
of using the same download and see if that works. when i first installed
it, one of the version numbers had a 2
the next one was version 3
have no idea if that made any difference but on the test machine it works
I am still not installing it on my other machines until they come out with
another version update

The Lavasoft forum looks more and more like a nightmare every time I check
in, with serious damage being done to some people's systems. I can't see
this mess getting fixed reliably any time soon, and I wouldn't contemplate
installing even an updated version at the moment. I can't imagine how it
could go so wrong after all the beta-testing.

me neither especially since they had so many beta testers- seems like lack
of communication somewhere
Since the se version is still receiving updates I will hang onto it until it
doesn't anymore.

Making the adjustment in Norton Personal Firewall worked perfectly for me --
thanks for the solution. The program works fine, now, and I haven't noticed
any other "bugs"; I don't know what everyone else is complaining about.

we do not have Norton Personal Firewall- that is the complaint
So what does one do?
and as said I have it set to allow in Zone Alarm Free and AVG Pro with
Firewall
