activex ?

It seems trivial but its become real frusterating. When visiting some sites,
specificly expedia.com, instead of seeing the pictures I only see the box
with a little red "x" in it where the picture should be.
I have tried adjusting the activex controls, pop-up blocker and security
settings but no change. The funny thing is that this is the only travel
website that I have this problem with.
Please help

Hi Daryl :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Try clearing the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and
delete offline content.)

and...

Are you using a Firewall or "filtering software"? Zone Alarm Pro can block
Images in IE

1. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>reset custom
level to Medium or Low
2. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>set the slider to Medium or Low
3. Go to this site and read on adjusting the Privacy settings in ZA. It will
explain how to customize on a per site basis.
http://www.donhoover.net/privacy.html

Kerio Personal Firewall and any other anti-advertisement software you have
on your system will also do this.

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Multimedia section and make sure the box next to Show
Pictures is
checked

or…..

Tools>Internet Options>Security
Highlight Internet and choose Custom Level.
Scroll down to Miscellaneous and enable "Access data sources across
domains".
And....programs that are supposed to speed up your browsing will cause this
problem.

Be sure to check your HOSTS file (no extension).
If you are not sure of the location, do a Search for HOSTS

Close all instances of IE
Rename the HOSTS (e.g. HOSTS.OLD or SAV)
Launch IE and see if the images appear

You can download a HOSTS File Manager here:

Hope this helps.
