ActiveX Control when replying to email in Outlook 2003

Hi all,

A colleague of mine has suddenly started receiving the following error
when replying to or forwarding an email that is written in Rich Text
format.

'Your current security settngs prohibit running ActiveX controls on
this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.'

Clicking OK when this message appears presents the email reply/forward,
but also displays a strange box above the signature. I presume this is
the ActiveX control that is causing the issue.

At no point should there be anything 'above' the signature when
replying to an email, so I don't understand where it is comming from.
It only seems to happen when the original email is written in rich
text. No problems at all when Plain text is used.

I have searched the Outlook groups, and have found a few cases of this,
but have, as yet, not found a specific answer to what this activeX
control is, why the little box appears, and why ActiveX should be
involved at all when simply replying to a rich-text email. Also, there
are more than 10 other clients with exactly the same
setup/configuration (under SBS2003) and yet only one has this problem.

Any advice would be very welcome, other than simply 'changing the
ActiveX settings'

I've seen it happen when Smart Tags are allowed in mail. You can turn them off in Word's Tools | Options | General | Email Options | General dialog.
