"ActiveX component cannot create object."

I receive this message "ActiveX component cannot create object." when I try
to launch Powerpoint 97. Once I click "OK" the program launches and I can
work in Powerpoint. Does something need to be fixed to make this message not
appear?

Sounds like to might have an add-in that needs removing. Open PowerPoint,
click "Tools", "Add-ins", and see what is there.

Bill,
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You're a genius. There was an add-in PPR-x.
Once I removed it, no message.

Glad it worked, but don't tell too many folks that. I have a reputation I'm
trying to maintain! HA!

Unlike yours, sir, unlike yours. Whatever your reputation's been made in, it's
not in tact. ;-)
