ACTIVE X CONTROL CANT CREATE OBJECT - access query

I am running windows XP using Microsoft Office XP pro.

I have created queries using the wizord many times before.

The database is a split data base.

For some reason when i try and create a query i get an error message
ActiveX can't create object.


Any help MUCH appreciated.

I have found this to be a general error, not just asociated with the query
section. hence i have moved the question to the general forum.
