Active window becoming inactive

For some reason, any window I'm working in will all of a
sudden become grayed out so that I have to re-click
inside the application to re-activate the window.

This happens in any application. I'll be typing away in
an e-mail or in MS Word and *poof* the typing stops and
I'm in dead space. The top tool bar turns gray. It's
like my cursor somehow loses connection with the screen.
It seems to happen randomly and is frequent enough to be
very annoying.

I hope this makes sense and that someone out there can
help me! I'm using a stand-along PC and Windows XP for
home.

Thanks,
Gail

Sounds like you got some adware in there, uninstall any p2p software
(Morpheus, Kazaa) and run an ad killer (adaware 6.0 works available at
zdnet)
