Active Directory Domains + Trusts

I have a Windows 2000 mixed mode domain in Dublin.
Have a seperate Windows 2000 Domain mixed mode in Denmark.
Both networks are connected through a dedicated checkpoint NG VPN
when I try to establish a trust at either end I am getting the message:
"RPC Server is unavailable"
I have worked KB224370, have added a dedicated secondary lookup zone in DNS at each end. I have verified that all DC can communicate correctly, ping etc.
I have synced the time on the two domains aswell.
running out of ideas and theres seems to be little else advise out there other than check connectivity etc.
All traffic is allowed through the firewalls between these domains.

There is a filtration of the traffic in the network.
Maybe set fixed port for RPC connections
