Hello.

When I try to open Users Active Directory it doesn't open. In the Icon My
Computer, with the right button, Network Identifiers, I change the domain
OFICINA.LOCAL and I write OFICINA in the groupwork (DCPROMO didn't work
before = error).

When I restart I have a error "lsass.exe ..." and in the Icon My Computer,
right button, Network Identifiers, I see in the domain: * Unknow *.

What's the problem? How I do to uninstall active directory without DCPROMO
command and all ok? or How I change the domain * Unknow * with the groupwork
OFICINA and ok?

Thanks for all!!

Try:

dcpromo /forceremoval

Hello.

Ok, but it's not the solution because I am working in Safe Mode with the
option F8 work in domain controler Services Active and here instruction
dcpromo doesn't work.

And another solution?

Thanks for all.

What is your actual problem?

Why are you in safe mode?

Fix that first.

You can also try renaming the directory holding AD,
and rebooting -- this will get you up in "regular" mode
but with AD "off" if I remember correctly. (Worst case
you just rename it back.)

Ok, what is the directory holding AD? NTDS?? I don't know.

It's wherever you installed it but the default is usually:

%systemroot%\NTDS

or C:\winnt\NTDS or C:\Windows\NTDS

....in most cases.

Rename it to NTDSSave or some such and try booting.

Thanks for all Herb.
