Active Directory and VPN

I have a question about how to setup a branch office that will host only one
or two clients and a couple of printers. We have a Windows Server 2003
Domain. We now have a small office down the road a little ways that is using
DSL and we have setup a VPN between hardware devices through the internet. I
want to know how I can setup AD to work across that VPN. My clients will
have to have the DNS of the AD as their settings. The IP scheme will have to
be different between the main office and the branch office.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

Create an AD site with the subnet for your remote office, as well as a DHCP
scope for it and then setup your routers to route traffic from that site
into your head office network such that the traffic for AD flows freely.

This second site will not contain any servers. Only a few workstations. Will
that make a difference?

Matt,

I will throw out this suggestion to you: what about Terminal Services?

If you have only a couple of users in that 'remote' site then I might think
about TS. However, please be aware that TS is not always a solution. It
might depend on what the users in the 'remote' site need to do. If they are
simply going to be using MS Office then it might not be a bad idea to
explore this possibility. However, if thy have a lot of other things that
they need to do then it ( Terminal Services ) might not work.

HTH,

Cary
