i have re-installed xp on my comp for various reasons.
recently my hard drive went bad so i sent it off to get
replaced, when i got the new hard drive i also took out an
old 5.25 floppy that i had in the computer as i didn't
need it anymore. now when i install xp pro everything
goes fine, however when i try to activate it i get a
message saying that i have activated it too many time or
something. i was under the impression the i could install
xp as many time as i wanted on my comp, but since the
harddware changed can i not install anymore? thanks for
the help in advance

Don't worry, you can active your windows XP by telephone.

on the activation wizard, choose active by phone to active your windows
product by phone.

Yes, this is deliberately worded to try trick unsuspecting and/or naive
consumers into buying another copy of XP that they really don't need!
The worst part is that MS has known that peole have found this wording
to be ambiguous since the beginnning, but left it that way for SP1!
thanks for the help in advance

Just pick the option to Phone for activation.
