I hope this is the right group for this question. I have
two PCs (desktop and laptop). I currently run a legal
version of 2000 Pro on the desktop and a legal version of
XP home on the laptop. I have the disks and docs. I also
have a legal version of XP Pro that I have not loaded on
any computer. I need (for business) to have XP Pro on the
laptop and want to put XP home on the desktop. Will I
have any problem in activating my legal version on a
different computer after it has been activated once on the
laptop. I'd hate to have to buy another copy of XP Home.

No, if you're required to activate by phone, simply explain the situation
and they'll issue a new activation code.

You shouldn't have any problem transferring Windows XP to
another computer. You just have to call Microsoft (the
number in your local area will be provided when you are
activating XP on your desktop), and explain that your
situation. They won't ask for your name or any personal
info.
