When i purchased my new comp, i received an OEM of win XP home.
Since ive had bugs on my comp and that, ive formatted it now 3 times this
year and activated it now 3 times too. ive hears that u go under the
'microsoft microscope' if u do this more that 3 times to prevent piracy. is
this tru, and if so, how can i get around the activation part? Its not as if
im doing anything dodgy!

dont activate until its tested you get 30 days and if you do hit problems

You've heard wrong.

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. Nor is there ever a
charge. Nor does a Product Key (so long as it's not an evaluation
license) ever expire. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

Piracy Basics - Microsoft Product Activation

Windows Product Activation (WPA)

That said, you should not have had to perform thre re0installations on
a new computer, unless you have really atrocious computing habits, or
unless you have defective/sub-standard hardware. Have you contacted the
computer's manufacturer for warranty support?

Here's a plan for you.. next time you have a bug, come into the newsgroups
and ask for help.. try to be precise and give enough details such that we
know where to aim.. this will hopefully prevent you having to format so
often..
