Activation problem

My hard drive crashed on my E-machine and so I used a Licensed copy that I
recently purchaced to get it running again not thinking I used the in box
prod key naturally it did not work so I tried the key on the machine seeing
how my restore disk does not work any longer what can I do to transfer the
license tohe new drive
