A relative of mine tries to log on to Windows XP and when
(after he gets Welcome screen)he clicks on Icon, Windows
immediately Logs Off. There seems to be no way around it.
He is uncertain if the person who installed his PC
activated Windows XP. He himself didn't. Does this sound
like it's the problem? If so, what do you do if you
haven't activated it and your grace period runs out?

If this happened to me, I would decide never to buy any software with
product activation in it again. Read the below links, then make your
own choice!
