activation not working - stuck on log on page

The windows product activation window pops up when I click
on administrator icon on the log on page. In clicking yes
to activate, the windows product activation window comes
up and says, "windows is already activated, click ok to
exit". When I click ok, I get logged off and I'm back on
the logon screen (where I started).

Prior to this problem, the computer would tell me to
activate windows each time I logged on. Each time I did,
it would give me the same product activation
window, "windows is already activated, click ok to exit".
I would press ok during this time and I would be able to
use windows. This is no longer the case.

Help! Gateway has not been helpful at all.

Hi Dave,

Start the computer in Safe mode by hitting F8 at bootup.

Start/run regsvr32 regwizc.dll
Then start/run regsvr32 licdll.dll

If this doesn't help try these steps:

Start/run regedit. Delete the following keys:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers

Exit the registry editor, restart normally.
