Hi Duffer,
Don't worry,it has been activated.
Product activation and product registration are not the same. Activation
is completely anonymous; it requires absolutely no personally
identifiable information to complete.

During activation, you can also register your copy of Windows.
Registration is not required; however registering your copy ensures that
you receive product support, product update information, and other
benefits. The process registration takes only a few minutes to complete.
Personal information (for example, "contact" information such as an
email address) is required if you decide to register.

I installed a new copy of XP Home (retail) on a new machine I just built. I
proceeded with the activation over the internet. It asked if I wanted to
supply name, address, etc. I chose not to supply the info, just to activate
it. A screen popped up saying it was activated. Was that it?

Yep; that's all there is to it, under normal circumstances.

That's it. If you want to satisfy your peace of mind you can always try
running the activation wizard again. If your product is activated you'll get a
message telling you so.

Yes - the activation does not require any personal information. That
side was to register you as owner - entirely voluntary and I don't
bother.
