Activation code Reg entry

This is for the MS ceritfied.

Is there a registry entry that can be copied to apply on a computer you had
to reload in the event of spyware and general cleanup? I also reload the PC
to boot SATA or IDE with clean loads.

The reason I ask is that I test a lot of software and I have had to call
twice after reloading Windows XP Pro to have it activated. I was looking for
a registry entry that could be copied and applied after all SP and other
updates are done to not require the dial-up activation or the call in. Keep
this in mind it is a licensed copy on this one PC and not another PC. I do
not have illegal software or work on computers that do.

Any ideas would be help full. I thought about making the unattended install
with the -activated in it. That maybe the only option. With testing software
out I like to reloaded to cleanup the junk after uninstalls. The best way is
a reload. I am using ghost now and that helps but looking for the registry
way for a total reload to get new updates too the base load of my ghost image
in the even of corruption to image.

Thanks,

There is nothing in the registry. For a discussion of activation and
some /possible/ options see Alex Nichol's article on the subject at

No.

Drive imaging with Ghost is probably the best solution that you'll
find.

As long as you do not reformat, it should not be necessary to activate
again if you do upgrades like those. But it is useful to keep a copy
(on a floppy will be fine) of the two files Windows\system32\wpa.dbl and
wpa.bak so you could restore them at a Safe mode - command prompt boot
and then reboot to use them. They are unfortunately a tempting target
for virus writers, as are some related entries in registry. Those would
be the DigitalProductKey and others at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\
but those values are awkward - you cannot do a file - export on it
without exporting all the subkeys of it, and editing their sections of
the export file out again. One of those - WPAEvents - might also be
worth having around. But whether there is anything to gain from having
an export I don't really know
