I bought and activated XP upgrade for my old computer.
That computer died, so I have no way of un-installing
XP. I would like to install it on a different computer
now, but will it allow me since it has already been
activated on one machine? How?

Jake;
Choose the option to Activate by phone.
Call the displayed number, done in about 5 minutes.

The above does not apply to OEM.
OEM is normally permanently tied to the original computer and can
never be transferred regardless the condition of the original
computer.

You are OK, as long as this is a retail version. If it has been more than
120 days since you activated it on the dead PC, it will activate
automatically over the internet. If it has been less than 120 days, you will
need to call the activation center, but this only takes a couple of minutes
and is painless.
