fThe http links that I send by e-mail are not active.
This just started suddenly. I have McAfee firewall and Zone Alarm. I'm
wondering if it's caused by one of these or a setting in Outlook itself. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

Version of Outlook?
Type of account?
Are they active (blue underlined) in your Sent Items folder?
Does it work when you send to yourself?

This is with Outlook 2003 and occurs with both my e-mail accounts (Charter
and Hotmail). The links are not underlined in the Sent Folder nor when I send
them to myself. However, if I receive an e-mail from someone else, the links
are active, and I can forward the e-mail and the links remain acvtive.

What message format do you use?
Do you use Word or Outlook as the e-mail editor?
What method do you use to create an hyperlink? Are you simply typing the URL
in the message body?
When you composing do they show then?

I type the message in Outlook. I've tried to create hyperlinks both by typing
directly in the Outlook editor, and by using "copy" and "paste" from the
browsre URL address box. Neither creates an active link. When I send the
e-mail to someone, the recipient can copy and paste the http link into their
browser URL box and the link works, it's just not active in the body of the
e-mail message.

Did you use the space bar after the URL before sending.

No, but that was it! Thanks!
I've sent hypertext links before but didn't realize you needed a space
after the address.

I'm having the same problem in Office 2003. Hitting the spacebar doesn't
work for me. Do you have any other suggestions on how to activate a url link?

Hit [Return] after entering the link.

Thank you very much Gordon. I sincerely appreciate the help. Your
suggestion worked. :-)
