action buttons on 2007

When we insert an action button into PowerPoint 2007, we are having trouble
formatting the shape to make it invisible (creating a hyperlink). We used to
be able to do it easily in PowerPoint 2003, but in 2007, the only bit that
shows as a hyperlink is the ouline of the action button. This is difficult to
find as there is no line on the action button. I.e You can't find the link
unless you know it is there and are prepared to "hunt around" for it. Can you
fix this problem or are we doing something wrong now?

We go into Insert Tab, Shapes and choose the blank action button. We draw the
shape over a word or picture. The shape now covers the word or picture. We
then choose the page the we want to hyperlink to (eg slide 3). We then click
OK and right click on the action button-format shape-we select no fill and no
line, so that the action button becomes invisible and we can see the word or
picture. We then view the slideshow (slideshow tab-view current slide)
When we try to get the pointer to find the link, it will only change to the
hand when the pointer is exactly where the lines used to be (around the
perimter of the action button -if you put the pointer inside the action
button the pointer reverts to an arrow)
Hope this helps

Excellent thanks, I can now recreate issue.

Firstly, you can hyperlink pictures directly (right click -> hyperlink ->
place in this document). Same goes for text boxes or any other autoshape.

If you need to use the action button, try using fill -> slide background or
a fill colour set to 100% transparency (though I've got a niggling feeling
people have reported issues with that - I might be wrong).

If none of the above helps, post back with issue.

Some versions of the viewer see 100% transparent as no fill (allegedly) Try
using 99% transparent to be sure.

Fantastic. Thank you. I tried 100% transparency and that worked well, but if
I have any trouble when I try it with the kids at school, I'll remember the
99% transparency hint
