I have Adobe Acrobat PDF Maker 8.0 which worked just fine for several months
with my Office 2007 Word but suddenly this morning it disappeared from the
tool menu and is listed as inactive under the Add-Ins tab on Word Options. I
have tried every step listed in the help section to reactivate this add-in
but it won't do it. I use Word mostly to create documents being converted to
PDF format and I really need this add-in to work again. Can anyone help me -
in easy to understand English??

Can you still access Acrobat through the Print dialog? (Just select it
as if it were a printer.)

What I want is the icon back in the QAR so that I can get at it immediately.
I'm usually working on multiple projects at one time and need to be able to
get them converte quickly for a customer to see how it's working. The d%$,
thing is still in my add-ins under Word Options but it will not go active
again. I don't care what I try it always shows back up as inactive and I
need to get it back to an active status.

So you still haven't tested whether Acrobat as a whole is
malfunctioning, or just that particular icon ?

From Word Options > Add-Ins select Manage 'COM Add-ins' and click 'Go'
Is the checkbox against "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" checked?
If not check it. If it is checked, repair the Acrobat installation.

So it does, but the add-in provides extra functionality not available from
the 'print' driver.

The Acrobat program on it's own functions just fine and dandy. I just can't
get the add-in to function within Microsoft Office Word.

I open the COM add-in manager Acrobat is never checked. I check it, close
the Options window, go right back in and the check mark is gone. Acrobat on
it's own functions just great, it's Windows that will not keep the add-in
available.

Repair Office 2007 - preferably from the installation disc
Repair Acrobat from its setup
Update Acrobat to ensure that you have all the latest patches.
