Hi. I have a original disk of windows vista business upgrade. Two weeks ago I
intalled over a windows xp. No problem at all.

Yesterday I hard disk died. Today I intall the same original windows xp and
I try to upgrade to windows vista, but a error appears tells me that Vista
must be installed on c omputer that supports ACPI.

Well, Vista was right, on by BIOS setup I had ACPI disable. My mistake. But
I already Enable it. I tried aain to upgrade to Vista but the same message
returns.

Do I must install XP with ACPI enable and only then upgrade to Vista???

Do I need to format the computer again?

Regards,
Marco

Sometimes you can change the HAL to accomodate the resetting of ACPI. There
are some KBs on this. However, you are better off doing a repair install of
XP at best.

Hi Danman. I guess so. At the moment I'm choosing in with partition I want to
install XP.

I'll try. If you want I can leave here a post with the result.
