ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address

This is on an older machine running recently installed xp home. The old bios
is trying to write to a port blocked by xp. Other than upgrading the bios,
is there a fix or a work around?

The politically correct answer is No, you need to get a BIOS update.
It may be that you can defeat the ACPI functions in BIOS with BIOS options.
Another complication maybe defeating ACPI in windows, and possibly switching
to a non ACPI "HAL". This "used" to work in earlier versions of XP. I don't
know about Home, Media Edition, or SP2. The problem also occurs with server
2003, according to the MS knowledge base.

Yes!

Click a button. When the screen opens, type in your answer. Once done it's
gone!
