When trying to change directories in the Recovery Console
I get following error message:
C:\cd "\documents and settings\"
Access is Denied.

I've logged on as the administartor and can not figure
out what I'm doing wrong. Can any help?

By default the recovery console only has access to the Windows directory
and its sub-directories. You can increase the access available from the
recovery console. If you are running XP Pro, see the following KB
article for more information:

Windows XP Professional

Unfortunatley this machine will only boot to the Recovery
console. Can I do this from there?

Unfortunately, no. If you are trying to retrieve documents from the
machine, you might try removing the harddrive from the problem machine,
adding to a known working machine and copying the files from the working
machine.

Another option is to use Bart's PE builder
(http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/) to create a bootable CD with a number of
utilities that can access files on the machine and help repair the
non-working machine.
