Acer scanner won't install

I have just upgraded to a new system with XP Pro, and want
to keep my Acer ScanPrisa 640u. I can install the
software from the supplied CD (version 3.40) or the latest
from BENQ (4.03). However in both cases, when the new
hardware is detected and processed, I get the same error
message: the required section is missing in the INF. The
scanner is 2 years old.

That is surprising. I have a number of clients using older Acer
scanners with the updated XP drivers from BenQ.

Right now on my own machine I have an Acer 610P (parallel port)
scanner and it works just fine with XP Pro.

Turn the scanner off or unplug it. Then delete/uninstall all
references to the Scanner from Device Manager. Shut down and restart
Windows. Then install the software again and after than power on/plug
in the scanner.

Good luck
