Acer Prisa 620ST problem

My Acer scanner no longer wants to scan transparencies or negatives. Scans
images OK though.
For transparencies & negatives the light in the lid comes on and a warming
up message comes on, counting back '25...24...23..., but freezes and the '1
second' point. I think it may be clashing with other software as it was
working under Windows XP earlier in the year. I believe I have the lastest
driver (MiraScanv342s_BQA)

Suggestions welcome.

Rename (do not remove) the file "NT5Supp.sti" to "NT5Supp.sti.csm" without
the quotes.
If you remove the file Windows XP will just put it back from cache. (csm is
my initials)

The file is located in \Windows\Twain_32\Mirascan\

I am not sure that the folder in the Twain_32 folder is Mirascan, it is the
folder for the Twain driver for the Acer Scanner.

In any case if you search for NT5Supp.sti you will find its location.
