SP2 has not yet been released. Why did you install this on a non-test/lab
computer?

SP2 turns on its built-in firewall by default. You can disable it,
or try to configure it to allow the connections you want: start
by enabling the firewall, then selecting the things you want under
the Exceptions tab.

Personally, after fiddling with the XP's SP2 version of the firewall,
I turned it off and went back to Zone Alarm.

....yes, but if the problem is with the XP box connecting *to* other
computers it likely isn't the firewall that's the culprit.

Best plan is not to install software or updates that haven't been released,
unless it's in a lab environment.
