"Accounts" Column missing details

Hi all,

I have a number of e-mail accounts in my Windows Mail so I have set up the
software to display the Accounts column so I can clearly display which
account the e-mail belongs to when it arrived in my inbox.

Something interesting has happened in the past two or three weeks where that
incoming e-mails fail to display which account.

Investigating this further, when the e-mail arrives into the inbox, it
initially displays which account it came from then the e-mail flashes off
and then just as quickly it returns however the accounts section is missing.

I have tried the obvious where that I close the accounts columns, restart
Windows mail but nothing.

Has anyone an idea of this anomaly?

Kindest Regards

Some antivirus programs will strip that account information.
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully
compatible with Windows Mail.

Trend Micro antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
First, go into its settings and disable any interaction with email, then try
Windows Mail again. If no improvement, do a trial uninstall.

Another option (instead of uninstalling Trend Micro) is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of
overly intrusive antivirus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

In any case you must disable any antivirus email scanning, for the reason
explained here:

Which AV is it? For some, switching off email scanning is not sufficient.
Also, any messages already downloaded will not regain their account
information once it is stripped. We don't know why some AVs cause this
to happen, but from my experience with supporting Windows Mail users
for the past 25 months, it does happen. It doesn't happen when using
an AV that is fully compatible with Window Mail, which should tell you
that it's not a WM-caused issue.

I have experienced the same problem when importing all my messages from OE
into Windows Mail : the account column had no info...
This is annoying when I go back to an old message to answer a certain person
: the answer comes from my DEFAULT mail account, not from the account that
received the original message from that person. I must then change the
"from" account manually, or risk some diplomatic hazard from mixing up
private and pro accounts! :-(

I didn't realize you were talking about imported messages.
The account information is never preserved for imported messages.

My previous comment applies to emails actually received by that client.

You're very welcome. Sorry I didn't have better news, but
I believe this is a limitation that all mail clients have when
importing mail received by another client.
