Account has been locked out---Security Issue?

T

TR

If I turn my PC on and do not log in right away (~10mins),
when I get back to it and C-A-D to log in, I get
the "account has been locked out" message as if someone
had been trying invalid passwords. The computer is in a
secure location, but I have a DSL modem on during this
time.

Is someone trying to hack into my computer? Is there an
automated hack out there that does this type of thing,
possibly just for fun? Is there a cure?

If you are not using a properly configured firewall it is possible that someone is
trying to access your computer from the internet. Go to a site such as
http://scan.sygatetech.com/ and select scan now to do a basic vulnerability test. It
is also possible that something like a scheduled task could be causing this. Enable
auditing of logon events, as described in link below, for success and failure on
your computer and then you can view the security log in Event Viewer to find out what
events are triggering the lockout and at what time they are occurring. --- Steve
