Accidentally Deleted Pictures

By mistake this morning, I highlighted a bunch of pictures I wanted to put on
a cd, right-clicked on cut, and pasted to cd. I attempted to write these
files to cd and went through the write-to-cd wizard that opened. However, it
apparently did not work as now the files are not on the cd I selected nor are
they in the original folder on my hard drive. I suspect I know the answer to
this already, but is there any way to retrieve these pictures?

I see 3 possibilities.......

a. See if they might be in the "Recycle Bin" and restore from there - If you
have emptied the recycle bin, Hopefully you may have Nortons "Protected"
Recycle Bin. They would be there.

b. "Jasc" software offers a "Photo restore" package that may recover them
for you (although that software may be specifically geared to camera memory
cards, I'm not sure.

c. If you are using a Norton Suite, Use "GO Back' and restore your system to
a time just before you deleted them. That will give them back to you. If you
are running "XP" or "ME" you may get them back using "System Restore" to a
point just before the deletion.

Hope one of these options may help.

d. If you haven't copied any other item to your "clipboard" yet, just go to
your original folder and "Paste". That should put them back from whence they
came.

Did you try pasting back to hard drive before doing another cut?
They may still be in memory.

A good program called Restoration
http://aumha.org/freeware/freeware.php#restore. It only lets you restore one
file at a time. If you have lots you can use PC Inspector
http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm. It is a little more
difficult to use but allows you to restore multiple files at once.
