Upon start up my computer was freezing and giving the option of safe mode
etc. My wife clicked System restore and now all user accounts have vanished
and my music files have dissappeared. Is there any way of restoring my
folders? I have tried using search for them but cannot find them.
Thanks

What make and model computer do you have?
When your computer restarted after the system "restore", were
you asked to create a user account?
If not, what account are you logged on with now? If you're now
logged on as owner, or a variation of same, then I think your
files may be gone.

It sounds like you ended up performing a system "recovery"
where the installation partition is wiped clean and your system
is restored to the condition it was in when it left the
factory.

You might be able to recover some of your files by using this
program.

Restoration 3.2.13

There are other file recovery programs available. You might
want to do a Google search for other options.

Good luck

It is a Hewlet Packard pc and when restore was entered a volcano appeared on
the screen. There were 4 user accounts in total, but none where there when
the computer booted up. Although files from 2 accounts were still in shared
documents. I am not at the pc at the moment to get the model number.
Thanks for your help.

Back to almost factory settings, Norton had to be re-installed as did the
drivers for my usb modem.
Say around the start of November was the time it has restored to.
