Accidental multiple posts - any ideas?

Hey everyone,

Over the last week, maybe two, there have been a spate of accidental
multiple posts from people where they have said that their email client
threw an error saying that it didn't go through. I've been checking the
message source of some of these messages over the 12 newsgroups, and can't
really find any correlation.

Some appear to be sent from Exchange Servers, some from Windows Server
2003/Windows XP x64, and some from Windows Mail in Vista - is it a specific
Vista problem that people keep getting, or is it a newsgroup thing?

Just wanted to check - as this *could* be a Vista Beta 2 issue perhaps...
)

OK - thanks for letting me know. I'll forward this onto the Newsgroup Admins
and the Vista team - it could be a bug in the Windows Mail software, as well
as congestion in the newsgroups )

Zack, there have been a lot of multiple posts from people using the web
interface too, especially over in the xp groups. They were getting errors
trying to post.

I believe there is an error when you check "Notify me of replies" on the web
interface. It has not notified me of anything, but still posts the message.
An, of course, I believe it says it takes 5 minutes for the post to get
through... In that time one could get concerned and post again. Just some
thoughts.

This may also be part of the answer, only those people that have multiple
duplicate posts can tell us if they got impatient for their post to appear
and reposted without the error message that some were getting, the web
interface is very slow and also the page must be refreshed manually to view
your post when it eventually is on the newsgroup, patience is a virtue, every
thing comes to he who waits, even old age.

On another matter, is anyone getting a MS pop-up survey?

I posted this in IE thread, but no one over there knows if its a bug or a
true survey?

"Subject: ms newsgroup survey won't display. Posted: 3 june 2006

Recieved a pop-up about ms newsgroups survey.

http://web.survey-poll.com/bin/survey.asp

I can't view the survey, what do I have to allow to get the survey to display?

popup? hostsFile? ??"

I am still getting the pop-up invitation, but survey form is not opening?

The pop-up survey when you go to microsoft.com? Yeah, I got that. It is
boring and asks most of the same questions they do to get Office 2007, and
some about improving the website.
