We have a new laptop running Windows XP. I looked in Program Files and IE is
not there. I looked in the startup menu in accessories, and Windows Explorer
is not there. I did a search for "iexplore.exe" and got nothing.
When I try to download IE from the internet, it says that a previous
installation has pending work requiring a reboot. I've been to the support
site about the "pending work" and followed the steps to correct it, but it
wants me to check a box called "Load Static VxDs". The problem is, that box
doesn't appear as one of my choices.
Please help

Try installing xp cd,exit the info page, then go to run, type:cmd In cmd type:
Sfc /Scannow When the utility is thru,in cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to re-
start,then type:EXIT Remove cd,restart computer.You might also,R.click the
task bar, select task mgr, you'll probably see IE running.
