accessing user files on slave drive

I have a hard drive hooked up to my computer as the
secondary slave drive. Windows XP is loaded in it and the
other hard drive that I am running on currently. I took
the hard drive out of another computer that would not
boot, and I plan to reformat the hard drive, but I am
trying to save all the files on the hard drive before
formatting. Included in what I want to save is the
desktop and my documents folders, but when I try to
double click the user name, it says I do have access, I
am assuming because I am not logged on to that user. I do
know the password to the user, but I am not sure how to
get to those files, since I cannot boot from the hard
drive and log on. Any help here as to how to copy the
desktop and my documents folders from the password
protected user account would be great. Also as I said
before I do know the password. Thanks!
