Accessing shared files on 2 Computers

I have 2 computers in a worgroup Anytime I try to access the other computer
in my workgroup a password box appears asking for user name and password.
Meaning if I select start run and type "\\computer ip address" in the run
box, the password box appears; or If I double click My Network Places and
view the workgroup and click on the other computer, the password box still
pops up. I've tried turning off the firewalls and antivirus but no beans. Im
pretty sure computers on a network or workgroup can be accessed without a
password, what am I overlooking?

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities though, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read
this article with an open mind.

Your statement "computers on a network or workgroup can be accessed without a
password" is correct, but with limitations. You have to setup the network
properly. You need to diagnose your problems from the bottom up.

For more immediate help, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
