Accessing Outlook Contacts from within MS Word

I'm now using WinXP Pro SR2, Word 2003 (having skipped from Word 2000), &
still using Netscape Messenger 4.75 for email. Under Win98 & Word 2000, I
was able to use the dropdown toolbar button in Word to access contacts. In
other words, I could put in a complete name & address with the click of a
button.

When I try to click it now, I get a message: "Either there is no default
mail client or the current mail client cannot fullfill the messaging
request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook & set it as the default mail
client."

I don't want to use Outlook as my default email client, but I do want to
access it's contacts within Word, the way I did with earlier versions.
Anyone know the solution to this?

Of course not.
Outlook must be your default email program if you expect to integrate with
other Office applications.

Hi Russ:
Thank you for your response. However, when I had Office Pro 2000, I was using
Netscape 4.75 as my default email application & I Word was able to access the
contacts list. Maybe it was because I originally had everything in Scheduler
Plus & merged it to Outlook. I was hoping there could be some sort of registry
hack, but I don't know what it would be. If you can think of anything I can
try, please let me know.

Thanks again. I appreciate your time.

I've never seen integration with Word with any version of Outlook if I did
not set Outlook as the default email program, and that included Outlook
2000.
