Accessing multiple .pst files

I have a backup .pst file on an external hard drive from an Office 2003
computer.

My home computer is running Office 2007.

Can I access and operate on emails on the external hard drive (2003) using
my Outlook 2007 home computer without corrupting my normal home .pst file?

You can open the .pst file as an additional data file in both versions of
Outlook, but you can only use one Outlook version at a time with both .pst
files open.

Optionally, you can create a second mail profile and connect the other
unused .pst to that profile to keep the data separate.

I want to keep the two lots of emails separate, if I can.

Opening a data file within Outlook gives you a second set of Personal
Folders, the two are completely seperate.
How you deal with a second email account, if thats what you mean depends.
