accessing files

I installed a new hard drive into my computer. I put the old hard drive on
as a slave so I could access the files, pictures, etc. (this hard drive
stopped booting up).
I installed windows xp home on the new drive. But I can't access the files
on the old drive. I was able to access them when I put this drive into a
computer that had windows me on it. What could be the problem?

You didn't tell us the error message or what happens when you try, but
Crystal Ball says - take ownership of the files.
