accessing data from unopenable database

E

Elaine

I am no longer able to open a database - the message I
receive is:
The microsoft jet database engine stopped the process
because you and another user are attempting to change the
same data at the same time.
As an option I have tried to import or link to the data
in the table from another database, I receive the same
message.

How can I get at the data? (or solve the probem if the
databse will no longer open?)

Ensure no one is in the database. Make a copy of it.

In the folder where the database is, check for a file with the same name,
but an ldb extension. Delete it.

Try opening the database, and compact it.

If that fails, try compacting it using Jetcomp.exe available at
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=273956

If that fails, try importing all objects into a new database.

If that fails, you can try sending your original database to
www.pksolutions.com
