Accessing Contacts from Outlook 97/2000 in Outlook 2007

I backed up my mail data from Outlook 2000 (mail, calendars, contacts) to a
..PST file on a CD and on a flash drive (for the sake of redundancy). When I
did a clean new install of Outlook 2007, I placed the .PST file in a folder
(~Mail\joshua.pst) in my home folder, and then pointed the Outlook Address
Book to it. The calendars and past mail are accessible as they should be, but
I cannot seem to be able to access the contacts from that .PST file.
I've re-done the association process three times, even deleting the mail
account and starting ther from scratch, to no avail. I know the data is not
corrupt because I was able to use that same .PST file on another machine
running Outlook 2007.
Am I doing something wrong here? I'm stumped.
Much thanks in advance.

Hard to say what you did wrong when we don't know what you did. Clarify how
you connected the Outlook profile to the old folder. You had to have done
that first before you could add it to the address book view. Then clarify
what you mean by "pointed the Outlook Address Book to it."
