Accessibility Settings Annoyance!

I tried out a few accessibility settings a while back (XP, sp2)
They really didn't work for me at all. Everything was out of proportion.
I promptly reset the accessibility settings by making sure that
everything in the Accessibility Control Panel entry was unticked.
This didn't really revert the settings though, so I ended up going into
the Advanced Settings in Appearance and manually changing all the items
to the size I wanted.

This succeded with one exception: Quicklaunch and Startbar icons are
2-3 times their normal size at startup! The only way to fix this is to
change 'theme' in Display Properties, kill explorer and then start it
again. It really irritates me.

I curse my stupid idea of trying out these accessibility settings since
there doesn't seem to be a good way of completely switching them off. I
thought I knew XP inside out, but these settings are unchartered
territory for me. Maybe there is another setting hidden away somewhere.
I am hoping that somebody reading this will know more about these
settings than I do.

Surely I've got to be able to get rid of these supersized icons somehow!

I have customised my quick launch "just so" and the mega-sized icons
ruin my layout completely.
Hope you can help!

This might mess it up again.. try adding the accessibility options
again, then remove them. Maybe they'll "take" this time.

Have you tried a Google Groups search for similar archived postings?
Maybe touch up the parameters of this search:
