Access Violation

A

Arthur M. Lebo

Following is an error message I get when I try to log
onto a particular web site. I have Internet Explorer 6
on my computer and Windows XP. I am able to call up the
home page of the web site, but I am thrown off the home
page in about 10 seconds, and am put back on my desktop
with this error message, contained within an icon:

"An unexpected exception has been detected in native code
outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
(0xc0000005) occurred at PC=0x79546B8
Function=[Unknown.]
Library=C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2
\bin\fontmanager.dll"

I do not have this problem with other web sites. I have
gone to the Microsoft Knowledge Base site and have come
across Knowledge Base Article Q329907, which may or may
not be a solution to this problem. I am not sure how to
obtain the hotfix referred to in the Article, and
certainly do not want to incur an out of pocket cost that
may be the result of a software problem.

Has anyone encountered this problem with Internet
Explorer 6, and if so how was it corrected?

"An unexpected exception has been detected in native code

That page has a Java applet embedded in it
and your error message is probably a diagnostic
that the Sun Java VM would produce.
It works fine with the MS VM.

Perhaps you should contact Sun for support
of their product?
