I recently purchased a student addition of microsoft
office. Shortly thereafter I realized that I need access
for my work. Is it possible to purchase Access
separately and add it to my student addition of Office?

Yes. It's not cheap however.

Get the version of Access that matches the rest of Office - you can
use Access2002 with Office2000, but there are oddities and problems
especially if you try to use automation to link the programs; it's
simpler if they match.
