Access Table Wizard

I am relatively new with Access. I am trying to set up a table using Table
Wizard. I go thru the four steps to set up but when I hit the finished button
I get a dialog box that says "There was an unexpected error creating the
table". I have back tracked and verified the proper procedures several time
but I still get the same message. I am using Office 2000.

Looks to me as if your Office 2000 installation is corrupted. If you feel
compelled to stick with Office 2000 (which is now "out of Microsoft
service"), I'd suggest you uninstall it completely, reinstall, then make
certain you have all three Service Packs, and all the service packs for
Jet40.DLL (I think there are eight).

I long since moved on from Office 2000. It may still be a bit too soon to
recommend Office 2007, as the first Service Pack has not been released. But,
with the applicable Service Packs, I've found Office 2003 to be stable and
solid. And, as it's no longer the "current version", you may be able to find
a "deal" somewhere on the Internet (e.g., eBay or other auction sites). The
Office 2003 Help is "online help primary", so if you do not have a
high-speed Internet connection (DSL, fiber-optic, or cable), you might
prefer to use Office 2002 -- there's not much difference in Access
functionality between those two versions.

I've only used the Tables Wizard for demonstrations, but have used them
without any similar problems in Access 2002 and 2003. I have both versions
on my production machine, and keep them up-to-date by subscribing to
Microsoft's Windows Update service (it's free).
