Access should permit imports of unformatted date and time

A lot of files produced by logging devices (in my case, call detail records
from a telephone PBX) deposit their date and time as compact, unformatted
values (e.g. 10/25/05 would be 102505; 2:56 PM would be 1426). While it is
fairly easy to import an unformatted date value by setting the date delimiter
to null on the wizard advanced window, importing a time value has proved
impossible, as has importing a timestamp value (date and time together). It
would be very useful if Access provided a way to import these values without
first having to import them as a text field and then do conversion queries.
As a fringe benefit, I suspect there are a lot of mainframe sequential files
out there that also carry unformatted dates and times. In addition,
military time is almost always shown in this compact, four character format.

Given all the different operating systems and programming environments, plain
text as you see it is the most univeral. How that text is formatted is up to
the vendor of the equipment.
